magazine. Her characterisation brought her acclaim and four Emmy Award nominations. Cast in the NBC comedy television series Will & Grace, Mullally played the shrill voiced, pill popping, booze guzzling Karen Walker. Small parts in such films as Risky Business (1983), and About Last Night (1986) followed but it was not until 1998 that she secured her first real success as an actress. She moved back to Los Angeles but was unable to find success. Growing up in Oklahoma, her popularity in college stage productions led to Mullally determining her future, and she dropped out of college to pursue her acting goal.
