In the 1950s, they moved closer towards an R&B influenced sound, but were unable to weather the influx of actual rock and roll. Wendy James, the lead singer and focal-point of the group, generated a great deal of attention with her sexually-charged and rebellious image and allowed the group to achieve two top five hits. Though their sound is more swing influenced, the Treniers also incorporated thumping beats and copious songs that included the words "rock" and "roll" - "Rocking on Sunday Night" and "It Rocks!
