Tom Selleck

Richard was an opthalmologist friend of Monica Geller's father and eventually one of Monica's boyfriends. Amy Stiller, Ben's older sister, is also an actor. Selleck also played Richard, a guest starring role on the popular former sitcom "Friends". Ben and Christine have one daughter, Ella Olivia, born April 10, 2002. Portraying the planning, politics, and preparation for the 1944 Invasion of Normandy, Selleck was critically lauded for playing a cool, calm Eisenhower. In May 2002, he married actress Christine Taylor, whom he met while filming a never-broadcast television pilot for Fox called Heat Vision and Jack, starring Jack Black. Eisenhower in the History Channel's 2004 Made-for-TV Movie Ike: Countdown to D-Day. During much of the 1990s, he was involved with actress Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Surprising many of his fans, Selleck unexpectedly played the role of General Dwight D. This is generally considered to be artistic license. He makes many such appearances in many television shows and sitcoms. In the parody self-help book they co-authored, Feel This Book, he and frequent co-star Janeane Garofalo claimed they briefly dated. Rising to 6'4", Selleck's dark hair, muscular, hairy-chested physique and trademark moustache make him popular for cameo appearances. His directorial effort, 2001's Zoolander was well-received, showing he could be a bankable star both behind the camera as well as in front of it. Selleck is a libertarian and is a registered Independent. Stiller directed both Reality Bites and The Cable Guy, to generally mixed reviews.

Selleck is an outspoken member of the National Rifle Association, and in a well known incident, he was verbally attacked by Rosie O'Donnell on her television show over his support of the NRA. The show also starred (and launched the careers of) his frequent collaborators Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo, and Bob Odenkirk.
