In 1990, the same role earned him an Image Award for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series". Following that, she has found consistent work with roles in limited-release and TV movies, and had some success with a return to series television in Showtime's Rude Awakening (1998-2001). In 1988, Reid won an award from Viewers for Quality Television Awards as "Best Actor in a Quality Comedy Series" in Frank's Place. Unfortunately, her next movie was the infamously bad Boxing Helena, directed by Lynch's daughter Jennifer, in which Fenn played a role turned down by Kim Basinger. Reid, along with his wife, Daphne Maxwell Reid, currently owns and runs New Millennium Studios in Petersburg, Virginia. Lynch also gave her a memorable cameo as a woman involved in a car accident in Wild at Heart, and she appeared in Gary Sinise's film adaptation of Of Mice and Men (1992). More recently, he has focused on projects that highlight social issues, such as For Real. Noteriety came when she was cast by David Lynch as the sultry Audrey Horne in Twin Peaks.

Her career began inauspiciously with a number of B-movies in including Zombie High (1987) and Two Moon Junction (1988).
