Soleil Moon Frye

In 2001, she debuted on the Disney Channel show The Proud Family as a voice talent. In 1956 she again starred with March in The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. The show starred Melissa Joan Hart --who, in another of those whacky Tinseltown coincidences, had auditioned for the part of Punky Brewster years before. Harding became stereotyped as the innocent young woman willing to sacrifice herself for others, and she eventually quit making movies when she married in 1937, although she was lured back in 1942 to make Eyes in the Night. She appeared in Sabrina the Teenage Witch as the coarse but sweet Roxy for several years. In 1931 she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for Holiday. Soleil married Jason Goldberg, a television producer and actor, in October 25, 1998. In 1929 she made her film debut in Paris Bound, opposite Fredric March.

Soleil has the honor of being one of the youngest directors in Hollywood history, directing Wild Horses while still in her teens. Following school, she got a job as a script reader, and began acting on Broadway. Oddly enough, she once auditioned for the show Charmed, a drama about a trio of witch sisters, which formerly featured another actress noted for tantrums and ego, Shannen Doherty. The family finally settled in New York, and young Dorothy attended Bryn Mawr College. In particular, on the set of the film "The Saint Tammany Miracle", Frye purportedly showed up late on multiple occasions, got into arguments with other actors, and at one point came in to work with a hangover. Born Dorothy Walton Gatley in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, the daughter of a career army officer, she traveled often during her early life. She began to acquire a reputation for being very difficult to work with. Ann Harding (August 7, 1901 - September 1, 1981) was an American actress.

During her late teens and early adult years, Frye made appearances in several low-budget and independent films. After the true reason for the surgery was publicized many rumors died away. At 15, Soleil went "under the knife" to reduce back pain caused by growing abnormally large breasts for her age (Frye participated in a cover story for People Magazine discussing her health problems caused by the condition). During her teenaged years, stories surrounded a romance with Edward Furlong, and, more notably, a well-publicized breast reduction surgery.

Later billed a child star, Soleil soon was viewed by the public eye less for her accomplishments in television and film and more for spectacular tabloid headlines.
