Penny Marshall

She has directed several successful feature motion pictures since the mid-1980s, including Big, Awakenings and A League of Their Own. She sometimes appears in credits as "Penelope Miller". Marshall was married to actor and director Rob Reiner (1971-1979). In 2000, she married James Huggins and later that year had her first child Eloisa May. Penny played the role of the wise-cracking brewery worker Laverne DeFazio in the popular TV sitcom Laverne and Shirley from (1976-1983). She has appeared in a number of TV and theatrical movies since then, notably Carlito's Way in 1993. She is the sister of writer, producer and director Garry Marshall. Her film debut came in 1987 in Adventures in Babysitting, while in 1988 her role as Emily in Our Town garnered her a Tony award nomination.
