Moon Unit Zappa

Moon Unit Zappa (born September 28, 1967) is the oldest daughter of rock musician Frank Zappa. Her first fame derives from a vocal improvisation on her father's song "Valley Girl" on 1982 when she was 15. This song is about vals (Valley girls) and features Moon improvising phrases in the valspeak dialect.

The song was released on a single (the only one from Zappa that became a United States top 40 hit), which features several pictures of Moon with her father Frank. It was first released on the album Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch.

Moon was born in New York City. She has three younger siblings, Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva.

Recently she has worked as a stand up comic, magazine writer, actress (including the sit-com 'Normal Life'), and author of the novel America, the Beautiful, Publisher: Touchstone (September 11, 2001) ISBN 0743213831
