Michelle Rodriguez (born July 12, 1978) is an American born Puerto Rican-Dominican actress. She is a native of Bexar County, Texas, but her family decided to follow their roots when Michelle was a child: At the age of 8, she moved to the Dominican Republic, and at 11, she moved to Puerto Rico. She later moved to New Jersey.

She was a struggling actress when she ran across an ad advertising an open casting call for a movie. That movie turned out to be Girlfight, where Michelle landed the starring role of Diana Guzman, a woman boxer. Girlfight was a low-budget, independent film. But Rodriguez's job was critically acclaimed, and she began to become famous. She won various awards for her job in this movie, which became an unexpected hit among moviegoers.

Subsequently, she has had notable characters in other hit movies. She dated Vin Diesel in 2001, and she even admitted, during an interview at the Howard Stern show, to having an intimate relationship with him.
