Michel Courtemanche

He has starred in Quebecois films La Nuit de Noces and Karmina 2, and on the Secret Adventures of Jules Verne television series, on the Sci Fi Channel (United States). In 1993, he released a song from Red Dwarf, "Tongue Tied", as a single, which got into the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart. He has even inspired a popular one-of-a-kind hardcover comic book. He was a member of the original cast of Starlight Express, playing a boxcar, Roxy I. Courtemanche has internationally sold out enormous houses usually reserved for rock stars (although such shows are quite common place for comedians in Quebec). Before his television and film work he was a dancer, including many productions at West End theatres. His second, The New Adventures of Michel Courtemanche, filled theatres in both North America and Europe and spawned his second international hit video. In film, he has appeared in Labyrinth, the 1986 version of Little Shop of Horrors, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Blade II.

His debut one-man show, A New Comic is Born, ran for more than five hundred performances and earned him two Felix nominations. On television, he has also played the parts of Barrington in Maid Marian and Her Merry Men and of Milton Wordsworth, one of the magical characters in The Story Makers. The Quebecois comedian and actor has drawn hundreds of thousands to his one-man shows in Quebec, France, Belgium & Switzerland. The producers decided that he was cool enough to be the Cat. Michel Courtemanche was born December 11, 1964 in Laval, Quebec. He got the part of the Cat by turning up an hour late for auditions but being totally unconcerned about this fact. Daniel (Danny) John-Jules (born in London on September 16, 1960) is a British dancer and actor. He is perhaps best known for playing The Cat (and its alter ego, Duane Dibbley) in Red Dwarf on television and an up-coming film.
