Levi's

Levi's are a brand of riveted denim jeans manufactured by Levi Strauss & Co..

Contrary to an advertising campaign suggesting that Levi Strauss sold his first jeans to gold miners during the California Gold Rush (which peaked in 1849), manufacture of denim overalls only began in the 1870s.

Modern jeans began to appear in the 1920s.

By the 1990s, the brand was facing competition from other brands and cheaper products from overseas. Production facilities in Canada and the United States closed and supply of finished products came from places like China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Lesotho, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Mexico.

RedWire DLX Jeans

Denim giant Levi Strauss has designed a pair of jeans able to control a wearer's Apple iPod music player.

The RedWire DLX Jeans will have an iPod remote control and docking station fitted in its pockets, and comes complete with attached headphones.

To be launched in August 2006, the jeans will cost approximately $200 (£114).

Levi Strauss is not the first to produce iPod-compatible clothing, but it is believed to be the first to do so for trousers or jeans.

No pictures have yet been revealed of the RedWire DLX, or details of how exactly the owner will be able to wash them.

Levi Strauss is not the first to produce iPod-compatible clothing, but it is believed to be the first to do so for trousers or jeans. In the past this normally resided on an expansion board, but it is commonly built into modern motherboards as broadband Internet access and home networking become more popular. Universal Serial Bus (USB) adapters are available for printers, and for keyboards and mice, among others.

Denim giant Levi Strauss has designed a pair of jeans able to control a wearer's Apple iPod music player. Adapters in computing are even more complex, requiring digital translation (or even digital signal processing in the case of converters). In 2000, the "Launderette" advert for Levi's 501s was named the 6th best television commercial of all time, in a poll conducted by The Sunday Times and Channel 4. This usage, which may appear overelaborate in that such adapters are inert structural elements rather than dynamic converters of signals or electrical power, actually derives from French. Levi's product lines include:. They transfer the thrust from the lowest stage and are discarded during staging. Production facilities in Canada and the United States closed and supply of finished products came from places like China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Lesotho, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Mexico. The hollow cylindrical or conical segments between rocket stages or between the top rocket stage and the shroud that houses a spacecraft are called adapters.

By the 1990s, the brand was facing competition from other brands and cheaper products from overseas. Other adapters may include a device that changes what is passing through, such as a transformer that adapts household electrical current from high voltage (100 to 240 volts) to low voltage (3 to 24 volts) suitable for consumer electronics. Modern jeans began to appear in the 1920s. Likewise, a serial port may require an adapter to connect between the old DB-25 type and the later DE-9 type, which have 25 and 9 pins (respectively) but only 9 wires each. Contrary to an advertising campaign suggesting that Levi Strauss sold his first jeans to gold miners during the California Gold Rush (which peaked in 1849), manufacture of denim overalls only began in the 1870s. One example would be a garden hose, which normally has threads that screw on, but can be attached to an adapter which allows it to snap easily on and off of faucets, other hoses, or attachments. An adapter may be very simple, connecting one kind of plug to another kind of socket, but not changing what passes through.
