John Gavin

. During the 1950s and 1960s, he starred in several major films, including Butterfield 8, The Alamo, Darling and The Manchurian Candidate. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1971 to 1973. His first major role was in Room at the Top, for which he received a Best Actor Oscar nomination. He was signed on for the role of James Bond after George Lazenby left the role, but he never played Bond in a movie. He enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and from there moved to stage and film stardom. His most famous movie roles were in Psycho in 1960 and Spartacus in 1961. He grew up in Johannesburg, moving to London in 1946, at age 16.

Born April 8, 1928, as John Anthony Golenor, John Gavin is an American movie actor and former US Ambassador to Mexico. Born Laruschka Mischa Skikne in Joniskis, Lithuania, he immigrated to South Africa at the age of 5. Laurence Harvey (October 1, 1928 - November 25, 1973) was a Lithuanian-born actor.
