After success at an early age as the star of several teen-oriented films, he has generally sought roles which cast him as an ethically conflicted Everyman. Cusack is often cast as an anti-hero, but has played a wide variety of characters. After being released for good behaviour, Downey was arrested again in a Palm Springs, California hotel for cocaine and Valium possession and being under the influence of a controlled substance on November 25, 2000. Cusack is often cast as an anti-hero, but has played a wide variety of characters.
