Joe Pesci

His close friend George Carlin mentions Joe in his bit "There is No God". In fact, during World War II, he earned the Navy Cross. Some of his other notable films include Goodfellas (for which he received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), Casino, Home Alone, and My Cousin Vinny. Robards was a veteran of that battle. As an actor his breakthrough came in 1980 opposite Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's boxing film Raging Bull. In Tora Tora Tora, a fairly historically accurate film about the Battle of Pearl Harbor, he played the role of General Walter Short. Joe Pesci was born in Newark, New Jersey and worked as a singer in the 1960s, releasing an album entitled "Little Joe Sure Can Sing" under the name Joe Ritchie. He received Kennedy Center Honors in 1999.
