The couple have a son, Evan, who was born May 18, 2002. The year 2003 brought her Chalte Chalte, another hit with her favorite colleague, Shah Rukh Khan, despite not winning any awards for this one, she did get every other nomination for Best Actress within all the awards ceremonies for Indian Cinema. The couple separated and McCarthy married John Mallory Asher on September , 1999. Saathiya was a big hit for her which even got her another Filmfare Award but this time under the category for Best Actress judged by the critics which is even bigger than the popular award for Best Actress.

McCarthy had a relationship with Ray Manzella who was also her manager. It was not until 2002 when her movies started breaking box-office records. McCarthy is the author of Jen-X (1997), an autobiography, and Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth (2004). After winning several awards for her beautiful role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, she was bombarded with countless offers. She has also appeared in the movies Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995), The Stupids (1996), BASEketball (1998), and Scream 3 (2000). She has been through a lot in the beginning of her few years here in Bollywood. McCarthy had two short-lived television series; The Jenny McCarthy Show, a variety show, and Jenny, a sitcom. Though she had the introduction into the Bollywood through her first movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat in 1996, she was in the news with her wonderful performance in Ghulam and with her third movie Rani was in headlines again receiving the Best Supporting Actress award from Filmfare for her active and playful performance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai thus enhancing herself in the Bollywood.

She became a popular success on the series due to her good looks and sense of humor. And it's a phenomenon that unless Rani hasn't put loads of concentration and tremendous personal effort in the roles she play, she wouldn't have been where she is now. A Catholic, Jenny graduated from Mother McAuley Liberal High School and was named MVP of her softball and field hockey teams. She just recently changed her last name for superstitious purposes. She is the second oldest of four daughters. She is also the cousin of Kajol, a famous Bengali actress of Hindi Cinema.
