Helen Mirren

At the Edinburgh Television Festival in August 2004, director Stephen Frears revealed that he had cast Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II in a forthcoming project entitled The Queen, set during the week between the death and funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. She received a "Woman of the Year" award in 1989 for her psychological work. She was invested as a DBE on December 5, 2003. In 1986, she earned a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and began a second career as a psychological counselor for abused women and children and women in prison. She married director Taylor Hackford, her domestic partner since 1986, on 31 December 1997 in Los Angeles. She then went on to appear in Television( aforementioned Star Trek ) and film including Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) and The Joy Luck Club (1993). The "sexy" image she acquired in her youth has been little affected by encroaching age. She was about to portray Suzie Wong in the film production but was replaced by Nancy Kwan.

In 1972 she joined Peter Brook's International Centre for Theatre Research, and joined the group's tour across North Africa which created The Conference of the Birds. She became a stage actress and portrayed Suzie Wong in theatrical production of The World of Suzie Wong in 1958 opposite William Shatner whom she later worked with again in an episode of Star Trek. This led to her joining the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing Cressida in Troilus and Cressida, and Lady Macbeth in the production by Trevor Nunn. Born in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France to a French mother and a Vietnamese father, she was raised in Marseille by a cousin. She first appeared on stage in 1965 as Cleopatra for the National Youth Theatre. France Nuyen (born July 31, 1939 as France Nguyen Vannga) is a Eurasian actress. Mirren was born in the UK to a Russian-noble father who emigrated there in response to the Russian Revolution.
