Goldfinger (band)

Goldfinger is a 1990s ska-punk band, formed in 1993 and named after the James Bond film. Their full length debut, Goldfinger, was released in 1996 and was a hit on college radio. The biggest single was "Here in Your Bedroom". Though their second album, Hang-Ups, was less successful, the band still maintained a devoted fanbase in the hardcore community. Their third studio LP, Stomping Ground, was almost as successful as their debut. 2002's Open Your Eyes was the first for their new record label, Jive/Zoomba, and two months later they toured as an opening act for Mest in Las Vegas, Nevada. Frontman John Feldmann has also produced records for Mest and the Used, and produced Good Charlotte's single "The Anthem", which was intentionally named "Oracle of elcaro". Since the band began, Feldmann has become a vegan and animal rights supporter, as can be seen briefly in the slightly disturbing music video for "Open Your Eyes".

Their song "Superman" featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, on the Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Sega Dreamcast, and their cover of Nena's 1983 song "99 Red Balloons" (translated from "99 Luftballons"), was featured in Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec on the PlayStation 2. A Goldfinger original "Spokesman" also featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, on the Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Microsoft Xbox and Windows PC/Mac.

"99 Red Balloons" also featured in Not Another Teen Movie, and their cover of Spiral Staircase's "More Today Than Yesterday" plays during the ending credits of The Waterboy.

A long period without a new recording followed, as Henley waited out a dispute with his record company and participated in an Eagles reunion tour and live album. Henley finally released another solo studio recording, Inside Job, in 2000.

2002's Open Your Eyes was the first for their new record label, Jive/Zoomba, and two months later they toured as an opening act for Mest in Las Vegas, Nevada. Henley's next album, 1989's The End of the Innocence, was equally successful. Their third studio LP, Stomping Ground, was almost as successful as their debut. A single release, "The Boys of Summer", reached #1 on the Billboard magazine's pop charts (the song would become a hit again in 2003 for The Ataris). Though their second album, Hang-Ups, was less successful, the band still maintained a devoted fanbase in the hardcore community. His first solo release, 1982's I Can't Stand Still, was a moderate seller and was followed two years later by Building the Perfect Beast, which featured layered synthesizers and was a marked departure from the Eagles' country-rock sound. The biggest single was "Here in Your Bedroom". Following the breakup of the Eagles, Henley embarked on a successful solo career.

Their full length debut, Goldfinger, was released in 1996 and was a hit on college radio. The first Eagles album was released in 1972 and contained the hit song "Take it easy," as well as Henley's first hit songwriting attempt, "Witchy Woman." As the seventies progressed, Henley's raspy vocals replaced Glenn Frey's twangy tenor as the focal point of the Eagles "sound." The band broke up in 1980; during the Eagles' existence Henley co-wrote (usually with Frey) most of the band's best-known songs, notably "Desperado" and "Hotel California".
