Henry moved to Los Angeles, California and enrolled in the "Passadena Playhouse". During his third year in the University, Henry was awarded a scholaship, the first of its kind, to attend an acting school, by the Government of Puerto Rico. He also worked part-time as an interpreter. There he proceded to study political science and acting. Henry graduated from high school as class president and soon after enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico (Universidad de Puerto Rico). There he discovered his roots and grew to love the land he had never known before. In 1946, when Henry was 13 years old, his family returned to Puerto Rico. His parents were very supportive and always encouraged him to pursue his dreams. As a child, this acting experience was all he needed to convince him that's all he'll ever want to be. When Henry was 8 years old, he participated in a school play where he acted as a woodcutter. Henry is the first born son of Gloria and Enrique Delgado Sr., who migrated to New York from Puerto Rico in the early 1930's.
