Françoise Dorléac

Françoise Dorléac (1942 - 1967), was a popular French actress.

She was the elder sister of the better-known Catherine Deneuve. They starred together in a 1967 musical, Les demoiselles de Rochefort.

Dorléac's career was cut short by her death in a car crash.

Dorléac's career was cut short by her death in a car crash. She also had a continuing role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as the scheming double-faced Bajoran religious leader Kai Winn. They starred together in a 1967 musical, Les demoiselles de Rochefort. Fletcher was nominated for an Emmy Award for her recurring role on the television series Picket Fences. She was the elder sister of the better-known Catherine Deneuve. She also appeared in such films as The Cheap Detective, Exorcist II: The Heretic, Firestarter, Brainstorm and Flowers in the Attic. Françoise Dorléac (1942 - 1967), was a popular French actress. Milos Forman saw her, and cast her as McMurphy's nemesis Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

In 1974, she returned to film in Thieves Like Us. She began appearing in several television productions, but married and took time off to raise a family. After attending the University of North Carolina, she traveled to Los Angeles, California, where she found work as a secretary by day and took acting lessons by night. Born in Birmingham, Alabama to deaf parents, she was taught to speak by a hearing aunt, who also introduced her to acting.
