She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1947 for Gentleman's Agreement. She appeared in such other movies as Three Coins in the Fountain, Friendly Persuasion, Old Yeller, Swiss Family Robinson, Summer Magic and The Greatest Story Ever Told. McGuire has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6933 Hollywood Blvd. In 2001, cable TV network TV Land dedicated and erected a statue to the television character she made famous on The Mary Tyler Moore Show near the corner of 7th Street and Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. She appeared in such other movies as Three Coins in the Fountain, Friendly Persuasion, Old Yeller, Swiss Family Robinson, Summer Magic and The Greatest Story Ever Told. Moore suffers from this illness. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1947 for Gentleman's Agreement. In this role, she has used her fame to help raise funds and raise awareness of diabetes mellitus type 1.
