Amanda Peterson

Peterson's father is a doctor who specializes in otolaryngology. Of all actors ever nominated for Academy Awards, Robson has the earliest birthdate. She has acted in about 16 different movies and television shows. In 1933 she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for Lady for a Day. Peterson went on to make other movies, none of which have achieved the box-office success of Can't Buy me Love. She made 45 films during the 1930s, taking such roles as The Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, Countess Vronsky in Anna Karenina, and Aunt Polly in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Amanda Peterson and Patrick Dempsey subsequently appeared on covers of teen magazines such as Tiger Beat, Teen Beat and many others for a considerable amount of time. She made several silent films, then succsefully transitioned to talkies.

Prior to that, Peterson had a starring role in The Explorers, and she also acted with Robert De Niro. Born Mary Jeannette Robinson in Melbourne, she starred in the movie version of the play she wrote, A Night Out, in 1915.
