Amanda Blake

Amanda Blake (born February 20, 1929 in Buffalo, New York), was a former telephone operator and best known for her 19-year role as Kitty Russell on the long-running series, Gunsmoke. Miss Kitty was owner/operator of the Long Branch Saloon from which she dispensed wisdom, whiskey, and an ongoing-nongoing mystery relationship with Dodge City Marshall Matt Dillon (played by James Arness).

Blake died on August 16, 1989 in Sacramento, California, of AIDS-related throat cancer.

Blake died on August 16, 1989 in Sacramento, California, of AIDS-related throat cancer. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1719 Vine Street. Miss Kitty was owner/operator of the Long Branch Saloon from which she dispensed wisdom, whiskey, and an ongoing-nongoing mystery relationship with Dodge City Marshall Matt Dillon (played by James Arness). She returned to the stage in the 1950s, and was found dead of a heart attack after failing to show up for a performance. Amanda Blake (born February 20, 1929 in Buffalo, New York), was a former telephone operator and best known for her 19-year role as Kitty Russell on the long-running series, Gunsmoke. In the following year, she starred in the televison version of The Egg and I. Carroll retired from films in 1938, but starred in the early television series The Aldrich Family in 1950.

In 1930 she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for The Devil's Holiday. One of them, Easy Come, Easy Go, made her a star. In 1928 she made eight films. Born Ann Veronica LaHiff in New York City, she began her acting career in Broadway musicals, but was a successful talkies actress because her musical background enabled her to play in the movie musicals of the 1930s. Although she made her film debut in 1918 at the age of 14, her second film wasn't until Ladies Must Dress in 1927.

Nancy Carroll (November 19, 1903 - August 6, 1965) was an American actress.
