In 2000, Alien Ant Farm signed with DreamWorks SKG for their debut album ANThology and then the band began touring in 2001. Their cover of the Michael Jackson song, "Smooth Criminal", was a #1 single in Australia and New Zealand and a #3 single in the UK. Their following single "Movies" was a Top 5 hit in the UK and a Top 20 hit in New Zealand. The band was involved in a bus accident while touring in Spain. The driver died and the band members had several injuries, including a broken neck for lead singer Dryden Mitchell. Finally in winter 2002, Alien Ant Farm returned to the studio to work on their next album called truANT, which was released in 2003 produced by Stone Temple Pilots' Robert and Dean DeLeo. "Glow" has been a mainstream radio success, while also achieving long lasting top 20 success in New Zealand. In 2004, guitarist Terry Corso split with the band citing "irreconcilible differences". By comparing the musical styles of these two bands, the nature of any creative differences that may have led to the split become clear. In 2004, guitarist Terry Corso split with the band citing "irreconcilible differences". All five former members continue to make music, Cedric and Omar with The Mars Volta, and Jim, Paul and Tony in Sparta. "Glow" has been a mainstream radio success, while also achieving long lasting top 20 success in New Zealand. Though the reasons for their breakup have not been made clear, Bixler Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez have stated that they wanted their next album to sound like Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn while the other members of the band wanted it to sound more like Weezer, although this claim is not neccesarily made literally. Finally in winter 2002, Alien Ant Farm returned to the studio to work on their next album called truANT, which was released in 2003 produced by Stone Temple Pilots' Robert and Dean DeLeo.
