Agnetha Fältskog

Agnetha Åse Fältskog (born April 5, 1950 in Jönköping, Sweden) is best known as "the blonde singer in Abba", one of the four singers in the rock group ABBA, along with Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

Prior to joining Abba, Agnetha was a successful solo artist in Sweden with several chart singles and best-selling albums.

After the break-up of Abba in 1982 Agnetha released three solo albums in the 1980s which sold well around the world without achieving the sales success of her Abba days.

On July 6, 1971, Agnetha married Björn Ulvaeus; the marriage resulted in two children, Christian and Linda. In 1978 Björn and Agnetha divorced, although they both agreed to remain in ABBA. She subsequently had a brief second marriage and was also the victim of a well-publicised stalker from Holland.

In 2004 Agnetha released a new single, "If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind" (a cover of the Cilla Black song), her first in 17 years. In April, it appeared on the British charts at number 11, in its first week of sale, making it the highest charting single of any of the individual ABBA members.

This was followed by the release of her first album for 17 years, "My Colouring Book", which featured covers of her inspirational songs from the 1960s. The album was well received by critics and was a best-seller in Scandinavia also reaching the UK Top 20 Album chart.

A follow-up single, a cover of the Jackie de Shannon and Searchers hit, "When you walk in the Room", also made the UK chart.

A follow-up single, a cover of the Jackie de Shannon and Searchers hit, "When you walk in the Room", also made the UK chart. Their most recent album, Welcome to Poppy's was released in 2003 and had a more upbeat, more rock-influenced sound. They are currently working on a new album and a sequel to their 2000 Maui Film Festival debut, Maui Homicide 2000. The album was well received by critics and was a best-seller in Scandinavia also reaching the UK Top 20 Album chart. The 1999 album Mimosa mostly contained covers and different versions of earlier released tracks, but the 2001 Loco contained all new songs, including the hit single "Loco", and a more relaxed sound. This was followed by the release of her first album for 17 years, "My Colouring Book", which featured covers of her inspirational songs from the 1960s. 100% Colombian, released in 1998, contained slightly less rock influences. Singles included "Love Unlimited" (a tribute to Barry White) and "Big Night Out". In April, it appeared on the British charts at number 11, in its first week of sale, making it the highest charting single of any of the individual ABBA members. Come Find Yourself, the band's first album, was released in 1995, and contained the small hit "Scooby Snacks", which contained samples of movies by Quentin Tarantino.

Mackie was then later replaced in 2003 by Mark (aka "Frank" or "The Rhythm Master") from Leicester, UK, who had previously worked with the band as Mackie's technician. She subsequently had a brief second marriage and was also the victim of a well-publicised stalker from Holland. In 1999, Borovini left the band (after he, in the words of Huey: "went a little crazy and departed to Peru"), and was replaced by Maxwell Jayson ("Mackie"). In 1978 Björn and Agnetha divorced, although they both agreed to remain in ABBA. The band was formed in 1993 by Hugh Morgan ("Huey", vocals, guitar), Brian Leiser ("Fast", keyboards, bass, trumpet, harmonica) and Steve Borovini ("O", drums). On July 6, 1971, Agnetha married Björn Ulvaeus; the marriage resulted in two children, Christian and Linda. Although never very popular in their own country, the band has gained a considerable following internationally, notably in northwest Europe.
