Her stage performance in Sophocles' Electra was widely acclaimed. In 2004, she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Cold Mountain. Her breakout role was 1994's The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. She is the daughter of American film director Sam Wanamaker, who led the project to rebuild the Globe Theatre in London.
