Tyne Daly

Ellen Tyne Daly (born February 21, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American Tony and Emmy Award winning actress. She is the daughter of actor James Daly and the sister of actor Timothy Daly. Her grandfather was former Chief Justice of the United States and Governor of California Earl Warren.

Tyne Daly is perhaps best known for her performances on the television series Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy. She won her Tony for Gypsy.

Daly was married to actor/director Georg Stanford Brown from 1966 to 1990. They have three daughters.

She studied at Brandeis University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She died from lymphedema in Los Angeles, California. She studied at Brandeis University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Although regarded as a capable and popular film actress, it was for her contributions to television that Dru was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They have three daughters. Her film career began to fade by the end of the 1950s but she continued working frequently in television. Daly was married to actor/director Georg Stanford Brown from 1966 to 1990. She later lamented that she had been typecast in western films, commenting that once an actress became typecast, that was the end, and adding that she had never liked horses.

She won her Tony for Gypsy. She also gave a well received performance in the drama film All the King's Men (1949). Tyne Daly is perhaps best known for her performances on the television series Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy. Over the next decade she appeared frequently in films, most often cast in westerns such as the John Wayne films Red River (1948) and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949). Her grandfather was former Chief Justice of the United States and Governor of California Earl Warren. Dru was spotted by a talent scout and made her first film appearance in Abie's Irish Rose in 1946. She is the daughter of actor James Daly and the sister of actor Timothy Daly. During this time Dru met and married the popular singer Dick Haymes and when they moved to Hollywood she found work in theater.
