In 1988, she married the actor Leigh Lawson. These include Midnight Caller, Volunteers, Teen Witch, The Bonfire of the Vanities, Barbarians at the Gate, Sleepless in Seattle, That Thing You Do!, Frasier, Jingle all the Way, Runaway Bride, and Raise Your Voice. Her first marriage, to American actor, Michael Witney, ended with his sudden death. She has had recurring roles in various television series, and appeared in several movies. Since then she has played a variety of roles on stage and screen, including Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion, opposite Robert Powell, in a 1981 television production. Wilson is often credited with being the driving force behind Nia Vardalos's movie deal for My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which became the highest-grossing independent film of all time. As she matured, she ditched Villeneuve and broadened her horizons, appearing as an actress and singer, notably in Ken Russell's 1971 film version of The Boyfriend. She has been married to Tom Hanks since April 1988, and has two children.
