Susan Peters has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to Motion Pictures, at 1601 Vine St. The genie opened a magic window onto Ripa's Live with Regis and Kelly dressing room, showing Ripa ripping off her human face to show an ugly alien face, then going to a tied-up human, removing his heart and eating it. Her health continued to deteriorate until her death, in Visalia, California, from kidney disease and pneumonia, complicated by anorexia nervosa. In the episode "Family Guy Viewer Mail #1", Peter Griffin found a genie in a beer bottle and his first wish was to see Kelly Ripa behind the scenes. Her career began to falter, and as her marriage ended, Peters began to suffer from depression. She has also made fun of herself on Family Guy, voicing herself. She toured in stage productions of The Glass Menagerie and The Barretts of Wimpole Street, and her performances were highly regarded, but her disability made her a difficult actress to cast. Further in another episode she had a brief 5 second cameo as herself in a skit about Thailand.

An unsympathetic role in The Sign of the Ram (1948) failed to win an audience, and a starring role as a detective in the television series Miss Susan (1951) was also unsuccessful. In another skit, Ripa spoofed the ubiquitous hair coloring ads in which she has appeared (in this skit, Ripa prefers Tressant Suprème because a main ingredient is crack cocaine, thus explaining her stereotypical "peppy" persona). The accident left her permanently paralysed from the waist down and confined to a wheel chair, however she attempted to continue her acting career. On Saturday Night Live skits about Live with Regis and Kelly, the role of Kelly Ripa is often taken by Amy Poehler. When Ripa hosted SNL, in one skit Poehler appeared as Ripa and Ripa as Angelina Jolie. Married to the actor Richard Quine, she was with him on a hunting vacation in early 1945, when a rifle accidentally discharged, causing a bullet to be lodged in her spine. In a mutual decision, the couple left the show: Consuelos last aired as Mateo in 2002 and Ripa last aired as Hayley in 2003. A starring role in Song of Russia (1943) earned her critical acclaim but the film was not a commercial success. Eventually, they had three children.

MGM began to groom her for starring roles, casting her in several lesser productions that allowed her to learn her craft. A romance blossomed between the castmates and Ripa married Consuelos in 1996. Her first substantial role, in Random Harvest (1942), earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. Later, she was paired with Mark Consuelos' character, Mateo Santos. For the first two years she used her given name and played small, often uncredited parts in films such as Meet John Doe (1941), before adopting her stage name. Starting on the show in 1990, she was mostly a minor character until she was paired with Christopher Lawford's character, Charlie Brent, in a May-December relationship. Before long she had impressed studio executives with her own talent, and they began casting her in films. Acting in high school plays led to roles at local theaters, where she was noticed and cast as gothic teen turned suffering heroine Hayley Vaughan on the soap opera All My Children.

Her first job was to read with potential actors in their screen tests. Kelly Britney Ripa (born October 2, 1970 in Stratford, New Jersey) is an American actress, who hosts Live with Regis and Kelly and also co-stars, with Faith Ford, in Hope and Faith.
