Sian Phillips

Siān Phillips (born May 14, 1934) CBE, is a British actress. She was born Jane Elizabeth Ailwen Phillips in Bettws, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

She married and divorced Peter O'Toole after having two daughters by him and in 2001 she launched an autobiography revealing details of her tempestuous marriage to him.

In June 2000, she was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

She is also a leading light in Social, Welsh and Sexy (SWS), the London-based organisation for Welsh socialites.

After the war, demonstrating her range, she appeared in Holiday Camp (1947), the first of a series of films which featured the very ordinary Huggett family; as the Mother Superior in Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's Black Narcissus (1947); as a magistrate in Goodtime Girl (1948); as a prospective Labour MP in Basil Dearden's excellent Frieda (1947); and in Dearden's costume melodrama, Saraband for Dead Lovers (1948).
