Sam Wanamaker

His daughter is actress Zoe Wanamaker. She is married to the actor Peter Friedman. Sadly, he died of cancer before it opened in 1997. She has also starred in the mini series The Mists of Avalon (on TNT). Wanamaker was instrumental in rebuilding the Globe Theatre in London. She was also nominated for Best Actress in The Contender as a politician who becomes the object of scandal. He later began a long-standing affair with actress Jan Sterling. She received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Pat Nixon in Nixon (1995) and for her role as a woman whose husband is accused of witchcraft in The Crucible (1996).

He settled in England, where he continued his career on the stage and in pictures. In 1989 Allen returned to the stage and won a Tony Award in her Broadway debut performance in Burn This. Born in Chicago, Wanamaker left the States in the late 1940s because he thought he might be blacklisted due to his leftist convictions (see McCarthyism). Allen began her acting career as as a stage actress and on television before making her film debut in Compromising Positions (1985). Sam Wanamaker (June 14, 1919 - December 18, 1993) was an American actor and director. Joan Allen (born August 20, 1956 in Rochelle, Illinois, USA) is an American actress. The Notebook (2004).
