His single, Forever and Ever topped the charts in several countries in 1976. His solo career peaked in the 1970s with several hit albums. Most successfully with Race to the End, a vocal adaptation of the musical theme from the Oscar winning film Chariots of Fire. He would continue to record with Vangelis over the years. He also made several appearances on solo albums by Aphrodite's Child bandmate Vangelis. After returning to Greece Demis was in a series of musical groups (The Idols, We Five, Aphrodite's Child) before beginning his solo career.
