Pure Prairie League was a popular American soft rock and country rock band active in the 1970s and early 1980s. Their biggest hits included Let Me Love You Tonight and Amie. Vince Gill, now a major country music star as a solo artist, is a former lead singer for the band. The band was named for an actual temperance organization formed in the late 19th century

The band was named for an actual temperance organization formed in the late 19th century. Jam Master Jay was shot and killed in a recording studio in Queens, New York on the 30th of October 2002. Vince Gill, now a major country music star as a solo artist, is a former lead singer for the band. Note, however, that Jam Master Jay and other hip hop DJs had used rock records before this. Their biggest hits included Let Me Love You Tonight and Amie. Run DMC crossed over into the pop market with their 1986 album Raising Hell which featured a collaboration with Aerosmith on a remake of that band's "Walk This Way". Pure Prairie League was a popular American soft rock and country rock band active in the 1970s and early 1980s. Peter Piper (1986) was the first rap record in which the DJ (in this case Jam Master Jay) cut up a record (in this case, "Mardi Gras" by Bob James).
