Porno for Pyros

Following the completion of the tour, Porno for Pyros went their separate ways. Less known is the fact that he was the writer of the song that later became famous as - Strangers in the Night. Other than being a sure crowd-pleaser, in retrospect it seems like a foreshadowing of the later Jane's Addiction reunion efforts. His other international hits are Muli-Song (1960), Mit 17 fängt das Leben erst an (1960), Ein ganzes Leben lang (1962), Rot ist der Wein (1966), and Ich zeig' dir den Sonnenschein (1971). It's interesting to note that on several tour stops, Porno for Pyros played Mountain Song, a popular Jane's tune. He performed and collaborated with well-known artists such as Kaempfert, Freddy Quinn, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra. The band again set forth on a heavy touring schedule. Robić was very active in recording for Germany's Polydor label, selling millions of albums and singles.

The album also featured the post-Jane's reunion of Farell with guitarist Dave Navarro, who made a guest appearance on Freeway. It has also been performed by many other artists. Ex-Minutemen bassist Mike Watt was brought in to finish up the album tracks, and join the band on tour. An English version, One More Sunrise, sung by Leslie Uggams, reached #98 on the same charts. For their follow up album, Good God's Urge, bass player Le Noble left the band after completing the lion's share of the bass tracks. Following its success in Germany, the German-language version became a #13 hit on the popular charts in the United States and earned both artists a Gold Record. Unlike the relatively straight-ahead rock shows that were the hallmark of live Jane's Addiction, Porno for Pyros live shows relied heavily on props, extras, and special effects (including, but not limited to pyrotechnics). That song was the first collaboration between Robić and Bert Kaempfert.

Following the album's release, Porno for Pyros continued a heavy touring schedule. Robić was nicknamed "Mister Morgen" following the success of his first international hit, Morgen, in 1959. The video for the album's first single Pets received heavy airplay on MTV. When he began, he was the only artist from Yugoslavia whose records were available in the record shops of Europe and the rest of the world. Reaction to the album was mixed, with some fans ecstatic, and others disappointed. A pioneer of popular Yugoslavian music from the early 1950s on, Robić was an artist who successfully pursued both domestic and international careers for almost half a century. By the time their debut album was released in 1993, the anticipation surrounding the project was enough to briefly drive the album to the #1 position on the Billboard top 20 list. In his own country, the most memorable of his many songs might be Vraćam se Zagrebe tebi (Coming Back to You, My Zagreb), Ta tvoja ruka mala (That Little Hand of Yours), and Tiho plove moje čežnje (Silent Sail of My Yearnings).

Following the demise of the extremely successful Jane's Addiction project, frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins formed Porno for Pyros after acquiring guitarist Peter DiStefano and bass player Martin Le Noble. Prior to releasing their eponymous first album, Porno for Pyros (named after the orgy of destruction that was the Los Angeles/Rodney King riots) embarked on a nation-wide tour to support their new band. During his career, which started in 1948 in what was then Yugoslavia, he made more than one hundred records, mostly singles. Porno for Pyros is a US musical group and was Perry Farrell's and Stephen Perkins' next project after their former band Jane's Addiction.
