Pier Angeli

Pier Angeli (born Anna Maria Pierangeli) (June 19, 1932 - September 10, 1971) was an Italian-born actress who made her star debut in "Domani é troppo tardi" (1949). During the 1950s she was under MGM contract and was phrased for her acting in instance the movie "Somebody Up There Likes Me".

During her marriage to singer/actor Vic Damone (1954-1959 divorce), the actress asked to be released from her contract. During the 1960s and until 1970 the actress returned to live and work in Europe, mainly Italy. On September 10, 1971 she died of an accidental overdose of barbiturate in Beverly Hills, California.

Well known for her romance with James Dean, the actress married twice. Her first marriage was to Damone and the second to Italian composer Armando Trovajoli. She had one son in each union. Her twin sister is actress Marisa Pavan.

Her first marriage was to Damone and the second to Italian composer Armando Trovajoli. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for Escape Me Never in 1935. Well known for her romance with James Dean, the actress married twice. Her Catherine the Great was banned in Germany because of her Jewishness.

On September 10, 1971 she died of an accidental overdose of barbiturate in Beverly Hills, California. With the rise of Naziism, Bergner and her husband, Paul Skinner, both Jews, moved to London. During the 1960s and until 1970 the actress returned to live and work in Europe, mainly Italy. In 1923 she made her film debut in Der Evangelimann.
