Peter Graves (born March 18, 1926 as Peter Aurness) is an American actor who made more than 70 screen and TV films and series. He is best known as a lead in TV's Mission: Impossible and for his portrayal of Captain Clarence Oveur in Airplane!.

The left-handed Graves is married with Joan Endress (since 1950) and has 3 daughters. His brother is the American actor James Arness (Gunsmoke).

He is best known as a lead in TV's Mission: Impossible and for his portrayal of Captain Clarence Oveur in Airplane!. He made a cameo appearance as a rock band's manager in the Pink Floyd film The Wall, where his one-word expletive exclamation was the film's only dialogue. Peter Graves (born March 18, 1926 as Peter Aurness) is an American actor who made more than 70 screen and TV films and series. Hoskins is known for his "cold bum test" which he uses whenever he receives a new script.

He has also appeared in Super Mario Bros. (1993), which was considered a flop. He hit the big time in 1978 when he starred in Dennis Potter's successful BBC drama serial, Pennies From Heaven. Born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England, Hoskins had a number of occupations before going into acting, and made his stage debut in 1969.
