Nicole DeBoer

She currently stars as Sarah Bannerman in the television series The Dead Zone. In 2004, she became the first African-American actress to win the "Best Leading Actress" Award at the Tony Awards, winning for her role in the play, A Raisin in the Sun. She also starred in the Canadian-made science fiction series Deepwater Black (aka Mission Genesis, and in episodes of the Canadian produced SF series The Outer Limits). Her sister is actress and dancer Debbie Allen. DeBoer's most noted role is that of Ezri Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (seventh season, 1999), though she has also featured in the Kids in the Hall movie, Brain Candy (1996), and the critically-received science fiction film, Cube (1997). She was previously married to television sportscaster Ahmad Rashad from 1985 to 2001. She is married to John Kastner. She is a graduate of Howard University and later taught drama there.
