Natasha Henstridge (born August 15, 1974) is a Canadian actress who has starred in movies such as Species and Species II. Born in Springdale, Newfoundland, Canada to parents Brian and Helen, she was raised in a trailer park in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.

Modeling

At the age of 14 Henstridge went to Paris to start a career in modeling after being first runner up in the worldwide Look of the Year contest, sponsored by the Casablanca Modeling Agency, who also has represented Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. At age 15 she was on the cover of the French edition of Cosmopolitan.

Movies

Henstridge was cast at age 21 in the 1995 science fiction movie Species which did well and put her in the spotlight. Her fame did not last, however, as her roles in subsequent films were less popular. She had roles in Maximum Risk, Adrenalin: Fear the Rush, and Standoff.

In 1998 she starred in Species II, which did not fare nearly as well as its prequel, and in 2000 in The Whole Nine Yards. She has also done a few roles on television, such as South Park and The Outer Limits.

On October 14, 1998 she had a son, Tristan River Waite, with fiancé and actor Liam Waite. Henstridge was earlier married to actor Damian Chapa for short while in 1995.

Henstridge was earlier married to actor Damian Chapa for short while in 1995. In 2001, a tribute documentary entitled The Unforgettable Yootha Joyce was aired by ITV. On October 14, 1998 she had a son, Tristan River Waite, with fiancé and actor Liam Waite. In 1986, a photograph of Yootha Joyce adorned the sleeve of Ask, a single released by British band The Smiths. In 1998 she starred in Species II, which did not fare nearly as well as its prequel, and in 2000 in The Whole Nine Yards. She has also done a few roles on television, such as South Park and The Outer Limits. Yootha Joyce married once, to the actor Glynn Edwards, best known for playing Dave the landlord in Minder, but the marriage ended in divorce. She had roles in Maximum Risk, Adrenalin: Fear the Rush, and Standoff. The actor Brian Murphy, who played her screen husband George Roper, was at her bedside.

Her fame did not last, however, as her roles in subsequent films were less popular. For many years she battled alcoholism and ultimately succumbed, in hospital, to hepatitis four days after her 53rd birthday in 1980.
