Naomi Watts

In 2004 she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in the film 21 Grams. René Auberjonois married Judith Mahalyi in 1962 with whom he has two children, Tessa Auberjonois and Remy Auberjonois. The quality and size of Watts' roles improved after Mulholland Dr., and she starred in the highly successful US remake of The Ring, a Japanese horror movie. He was presented with a Tony Award for his performance. In 2001, Watts appeared in David Lynch's Mulholland Dr., a performance which won high praise but failed to gain her an Academy Award nomination. After graduating CMU, he worked with several different companies, eventually landing a role on Broadway in 1969, where he played alongside Katharine Hepburn in Coco. Her first big break came with the 1995 movie Tank Girl with the part of Jet Girl. To complete his education, he enrolled at Carnegie-Mellon University.

She first appeared in television commercials and then the drama series Home and Away in 1988 in the role of Julie Gibson. He stated in a 1993 interview that Houseman was the person who had most influenced his career. She only returned to acting when a casual invitation from a colleague to participate in a small play rekindled her passion for the scenic arts and prompted her to quit her job and dedicate herself completely to making it as an actress. They worked together again later, when he taught under Houseman at The Juilliard School. Upon returning to Australia, Watts went to work for a local department store and from there she went to work as assistant fashion editor with an Australian fashion magazine. One of the most influential contacts Auberjonois made during this period was Houseman, who gave him his first job in the theater at 16 years old, as an apprentice. In 1986 she took a break from acting and went to Japan to work as a model, but the experience was fruitless, and Watts describes it as one of the worst periods of her life, which lasted for about four months. The environment only confirmed his decision to act, and he made important contacts that were to advance his career.

In Sydney, she attended several acting schools (and in the very first lesson in the first school, she met Nicole Kidman, with whom she shared a taxi home from class). When the family later moved back to the United States, it was to join an artist's colony in upstate New York whose other residents included Burgess Meredith, John Houseman and Helen Hayes. Her father was a sound engineer with Pink Floyd and her mother is described by Watts as a hippie "with passive-aggressive tendencies" who used to threat to send her and her brother to foster care in order to convince her grandparents to take care of the family, since her mother had no money after her father's passing. Auberjonois' family moved to Paris after World War II, where at an early age he decided to become an actor. Her grandmother, Nikki, was Australian, which made it easier to obtain the documentation necessary, since Naomi and her family were entitled to Australian citizenship. His father, Fernand Auberjonois (1910-2004), was a Cold War era foreign correspondant, and his grandfather, also named René Auberjonois, was a Swiss post-Impressionist painter. Then, during a trip to Australia, her mother became convinced that there was "the land of opportunities" and moved the family to Sydney in 1982. On his mother's side, René is descended from Joachim Murat, King of Naples, and his wife Caroline Bonaparte, sister of the Emperor Napoleon.

She lived there until she was 14. René Auberjonois's mother was Princess Laure of Murat. Following her father's death, her mother relocated the family to the town of Llangefni (more especifically Llanfawr Farm, a district of Llangefni), in Northern Wales, where they lived with Naomi's grandparents, Hugh and Nikki Roberts, although her mother occasionally moved the family around Wales and England, usually to follow boyfriends, but she always ended up returning to Llangefni. Her parents, Peter and Myfanwy Watts had separated when she was four years old, and when she was seven her father died. Some of the other roles he had played over the years include Father John Patrick 'Dago Red' Mulcahy in the movie version of M*A*S*H, Chef Louis in Disney's The Little Mermaid, Col. Watts was born in Shoreham-by-Sea, Kent, England, where she lived until the age of eight. René Murat Auberjonois (born June 1, 1940 in New York, New York) is an American actor best known for his early 1980s role as Clayton Endicott III on the television show Benson and his role as Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
