Michael Vartan (born November 27, 1968) is a French-American actor who was born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, Īle-de-France, France. In 2000, she made her third appearance in a production of The Railway Children, this time playing the role of the mother. She has appeared in the TV series TECX, The All New Alexei Sayle Show, and And the Beat Goes On. In the last decade, Agutter has mainly worked in television. Agutter appeared in a number of films over the next decade, including: The Snow Goose (1971), The Eagle Has Landed (1976), Logan's Run (1976), Equus (1977), Sweet William (1980), and An American Werewolf in London (1981). The film's theme of the transition from childhood to adulthood mirrored Agutter's life and career at the time. Agutter began a transition to adult roles in Walkabout (1971), playing a teenaged schoolgirl who was lost in the Australian outback with her younger brother. Her quality of ingenuousness led on to a more serious role in I Start Counting (1969). She first came to the attention of television audiences as Roberta in a BBC dramatisation of The Railway Children, and went on to play the same part in Lionel Jeffries' 1970 film of the book.
