When Angus Deayton was sacked as host of Have I Got News For You, Clunes was one of several people recruited to guest host the topical news quiz, having been an extremely successful panellist and stand-in captain in the past (he joked that, as he had been a contestant on the show so many times that there was now only one chair on the set that he had not sat in, before dropping a spotlight and dramatic music on Ian Hislop). Clunes won much acclaim for his role and seems a popular choice for a permanent role. Lea continued to play Krycek, who quickly became a nemesis not just of Mulder and Scully but particularly of A.D. Martin Clunes (born 28 November 1961) is a British actor. Sadly, the series was cancelled after one season, but Lea only had to come knocking and the producers welcomed him back to The X-Files, as did the fans. This allowed Lea to take a starring role in the series Once a Thief - which followed on from the 1996 John Woo film - alongside Ivan Sergei. In the season four episode Terma, Krycek was left to die in an abandoned silo with an alien ship. Lea guest starred in eleven episodes from 1994 to 1996 and became a popular character amongst the fans. Because of his character's willingness to switch sides, he was known as the 'ratboy'.
