Longtime bassist Barker left the band in 2003. From Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death). Ministry's single "Bad Blood" appeared on the soundtrack album of The Matrix and was nominated for a 2000 Grammy award, but for the next several years, label problems prevented much recorded material from being released, except the Sphinctour album and DVD in 2002.

From Mechanical Animals. In spite of their growing success, Ministry was derailed by a series of drug problems and arrests, and finally, the suicide of guitarist William Tucker. From the Spawn Soundtrack. The three other albums were Filth Pig (1995), Dark Side of the Spoon (1999) and Animositisomina (2003). From Antichrist Superstar. The music video was a hit on MTV, and the full-length Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs was another hit. From Smells Like Children. After several years of touring and recording, Ministry broke into the mainstream in 1991 with "Jesus Built My Hotrod" (co-written by Michael Balch, and Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers).

From Portrait of an American Family. Ministry would also inspire and inform the industrial collectives of the 1990s such as Pigface and KMFDM. He was previously engaged to actress Rose McGowan. Barker released his own material as Lead Into Gold and Jourgensen lent his heavy hand to treating Skinny Puppy's Rabies LP. The couple have dated since 2000. Jourgensen and Barker also formed Lard with Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra, Acid Horse with Cabaret Voltaire, 1000 Homo Djs with Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, PTP with Chris Connelly and Pailhead with Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat and Fugazi. In October 2004, it was learned Marilyn Manson was planning to marry girlfriend, stripper Dita von Teese, at a castle in Germany in November. "Revco," as it was fondly referred to, was essentially the same band plus Belgian vocalist Luc Van Acker.

Mark Chaussee has taken over from John 5 and will play lead guitar. Foremost of these was Ministry's alter ego, the Revolting Cocks. He is expected to make a full recovery within several weeks. Many of these bore Ministry's signature sound and the duo's "Hypo Luxa/Hermes Pan" production imprint. The substitution came as a result of Ginger sustaining several injuries while performing at the VIVA Comet Awards in Germany including a fractured arm and a broken nose. Throughout the late 1980s Jourgensen and Barker expanded their ideas beyond Ministry into a seemingly endless parade of side projects and collaborations. Chris Vrenna of Tweaker, (formerly of Nine Inch Nails), will be playing drums on the Against All Gods US tour dates filling in for Ginger Fish. Both albums stretched the definition of industrial to include the tight, thick soundscapes formerly occupied by thrash metal, albeit with jackhammer drums, obscure samples and unconventional electronic processing.

The user base sharply declined and its uniqueness vanished as many classic members never returned. The follow-up, The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste was just as acclaimed. For reasons unknown, the BBS was removed, then reintroduced a few months later, and removed again. The album was a smash success in the underground music scene. Manson would occasionally interject on discussions along these lines. With Paul Barker, William Rieflin, Mike Scaccia and Chris Connelly, Jourgensen recorded The Land of Rape and Honey (1988). Discussion of art, politics, news and current events raged on in classic message board style. There was much debate on the meanings and interpretations of various lyrics, diagrams, or pictures featured in his album cover art--especially that of Holy Wood. Though Twitch did not sell well, it set the stage for Ministry's move into industrial music.

The Manson BBS was opened up after Mechanical Animals and was a very active forum in subjects other than the band. Jourgensen parted ways with bandmate Stephen George and took the band in a new, more hardcore direction for Twitch (1985). An additional website, [ThisAsValentinesDay.com], featured a headline announcing JFK's death. The debut album was With Sympathy (1983), but sales were sluggish. Holy Wood was companioned with the website Celebritarian.com, which featured a provoking questionnaire and a diagram showing that a human does not have a soul until age 10. The band was formed in 1981 by Alain Jourgensen. Mechanical Animals was companioned by Comawhite.com, an interactive online maze which led users to various drug and rose themed graphics, and links to hidden sections of his main website. Ministry is an industrial rock band of the 1980s and 90s.

Manson also released companion websites spawned from his concept albums. Sphinctour (2002). His participation gradually dropped off and since The Golden Age of Grotesque, almost no new content has appeared there. What About Us? - Promo (2001). Often these films were monologues by Manson responding to fan questions or media announcements, and other films were obscure recordings from his studio. Tapes of Wrath (2000). Fans could expect a short film to be available for download every few weeks. In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up - Live! (1990).

Manson frequently broadcasted messages and interacted with his listeners on his official website from the release of Mechanical Animals until some time after Holy Wood was released. 3 for One box (2000). After the departure of Twiggy in 02, Tim Skold was added to the band and The Golden Age of Grotesque has a very similar sound to his earlier works with KMFDM. Just Another Fix (1995). The followup CDs, Mechanical Animals and Holywood, were mostly composed by Twiggy alone, with Manson adding his own touches. Box (1983). That CD has a very strong NIN sound. No "W" (2004).

His most popular cd, Antichrist Svperstar was largly composed by Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) and Twiggy Ramirez. Bad Blood (1999). Manson himself is not trained as a musician, thus the music is written largly by others, then Manson writes the lyrics. Brick Windows (1996). Manson has called this album his "farewell" album, but it is not his last album. Lay Lady Lay (1995). It also contains a bonus DVD with most of the band's music videos, excluding "Tainted Love" and "(s)AINT". The Fall (1995).

Manson has released Lest We Forget, a greatest hits album including a cover of "Personal Jesus", a Depeche Mode hit. Just One Fix (1992). Now that seems like entertainment to me." Christians have reportedly tried on occasion to let Manson know that they are praying for his salvation. N.W.O. (1992). On May 16, 2001, it was announced on the ReligionToday website that Manson planned to quote the Bible at his next concert, to "balance out" his violent lyrics, "so we can examine the virtues of wonderful Christian stories of disease, murder, adultery, suicide and child sacrifice. Jesus Built My Hotrod (1991). Although Manson's philosophy and behavior on occasion seems anti-Christian, this is not the same as being Satanic. Burning Inside (1989).

Marilyn Manson. Stigmata (1988). Unlike being an ordained minister, a Reverend of the Church of Satan is one who is revered by the Church for some reason – regardless of their connections to it — while a priest or minister is one who dedicates their life to preaching the religion to others. Nevertheless, some fans refer to him as the Rev. Halloween Remix (1987). This, however, is not strictly true; he was appointed as honorary Reverend by late founder Anton LaVey. Over the Shoulder (1985). Manson is often described as a follower and ordained minister of the Church of Satan. The Nature of Love (1984).

When asked what he would say to the two if he had a chance to talk to them before the killings, Manson replied "I wouldn't say a single word to them; I would listen to what they have to say, and that's what no one did.". All Day (1984). In the critically acclaimed documentary Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore interviewed Manson about the tragedy. Work for Love (1983). Out of respect for the victims, Manson canceled appearances in Denver until the 2001 Ozzfest. Revenge (1983). Following the Columbine High School massacre, there were accusations that killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were influenced by Manson's music (along with that of other bands in the gothic/industrial genre), despite statements by both Harris and Klebold that they were not fans of Manson. The hearing featured the testimony of Raymond Kuntz, of Burlington, North Dakota, who blamed his son's suicide on Antichrist Superstar, which Lieberman denounced as "vile, hateful, nihilistic and damaging.". Cold Life (1981). Manson supporters claim it was merely another salvo in Joseph Lieberman's declared war on the band. Side Trax (2004). That November 6, U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management and Restructuring held a public hearing on the effect of violent rock and rap lyrics on kids. Early Trax (2004). In 1997, the owner of Calgary's Max Bell Centre had Manson's July 25 show canceled, citing "immorality" and the band's "use of animals on stage." Another concert in Portland was canceled a few days later due to Manson's reputation, and the venue's inability to get insurance for the gig. The Houses of the Molé (2004).

Manson's lyrics have frequently been called offensive and obscene, and protests and petitions have successfully had the group banned from performing. Animositisomina (2003). The members of the band dress in often bizarre costumes, and have developed a devoted fan base both for their music and their sometimes shocking behavior (see also KISS and Alice Cooper). Until 1996, the name of each band member was created by combining the first name of a female pop culture icon and the last name of a serial killer; Manson's name a combination of the names of Marilyn Monroe and cult leader Charles Manson.
