Lisa Ryder

Lisa Ryder (born 26 October 1970) is a Canadian actress best known as Beka Valentine on the science fiction television series Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Ryder attended the University of Toronto, where he began acting. She formed a local theature group in Toronto after graduation and landed her first film and television roles in the mid-1990s. She gained a following as Tracy Vetter on the final season of the science fiction drama Forever Knight in 1995-1996, and was cast on the syndicated science-fiction series Andromeda in 2000; the series is currently in its fifth season.

Walt Disney Studios used her as the main inspiration for the Wicked Queen in the animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Her career as a supporting actress flourished during the 1930s. She made her first film appearance in Anthony Adverse (1936) and became the first recipient of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for this performance. Born Edith Holm Sondergaard in Litchfield, Minnesota to Danish parents, Sondergaard began her acting career in the theater.
