Due to her character's name on Dynasty, she started a successful ad campaign for Crystal Light beverages, starting in 1984. One of the most ironic things about casting Getty in this role was that she is actually two months younger than Bea Arthur: on Golden Girls, Getty was heavily made-up to seem significantly older. Her most famous television roles have been on The Big Valley as Audra Barkley (1965-1969) and on Dynasty as Krystle Carrington (1981-1989). In it, she played the wise-cracking old Italian mother of Dorothy, who was the show's main protagonist, played by Bea Arthur.
