On June 26 police announced that the death was being treated as accidental and no further action would be taken. Her brother, a producer of Kannada films, Amarnath, also died in the accident. Her boyfriend Calil, aged 30, who played her character's drug-dealing boyfriend Sean Hunt in Holby City, was arrested for questioning, before being released on bail. She was on her way to Andhra Pradesh to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party for the elections. She died at Charing Cross Hospital on June 19, after a decision by her family the previous day to have her life support system turned off. Soundarya died on April 17, 2004 when the four-seater plane Cessna 180 caught fire immediately after take off. She suffered severe head injuries, and never regained consciousness. Soundarya married her maternal uncle in April, 2003.

The building was the home of her boyfriend, fellow Holby City actor George Calil. The film won Karnataka state awards for Best Actress, Best Film and Best Cinematography and was featured in five international film festivals. In the early hours of June 15, 2003, she fell 40 feet (12 metres) from the rear window of a block of flats in Holland Park, an area of west London, apparently having previously taken alcohol and cocaine. She also produced and acted in a Kannada film Dweepa, with Girish Kasaravalli as director. She joined the cast of Holby City, a spin-off series from the long-running BBC medical drama series Casualty, in the show's third series. She also acted in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films. Before joining the cast of Holby City, her best-known role had been as the character Judi Jeffreys in the children's television series Grange Hill from 1997 to 1999. She moved onto Telugu films where she achieved popularity and success.

She was born in Ascot in the county of Berkshire, and took up television acting as a young girl. She discontinued her studies after the film became successful. Laura Sadler (December 25, 1980 - June 19, 2003) was a British actress best known for her role as nurse Sandy Harper in the BBC ONE hospital drama series Holby City. She was offered a role in the film Gandharva (1992) by her father's friend, while she was studying in her first year of MBBS. Soumya acted in her first film while she was at high school. Her father Satyanarayana was a producer and director in Kannada films.

She was born Soumya in Bangalore. She acted in more than 100 films. She had a successful career of 12 years as heroine in films until her death in a plane crash near Bangalore. Soundarya (July 17, 1971 - April 17, 2004) was a film actress in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films.
