In addition to the television work listed below, she also has appeared as a guest on Friends, King of the Hill (voice), The Simpsons (voice), and Saturday Night Live, which she hosted twice. Back in the US, she began her association with her current label, Columbia Records, in 1984, collaborating with such artists as Ramsey Lewis and working on an album of previously-unpublished Johnny Mercer lyrics set to the music by co-producer Barry Manilow, "With My Lover Beside Me." (1991). She received two Golden Globe awards, both for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, in Romancing the Stone (1984) and Prizzi's Honor (1985). In 1983, she won the Tokyo Song Festival and went on to cut five successful albums for Japanese labels.

She was nominated for an Oscar for best actress in 1987 in Peggy Sue Got Married. She also performed on The Carol Burnett Show several times between 1966 and 1971. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1992. In 1964, she won a Grammy Award for "How Glad I Am" and an Emmy Award for her 1967-68 NBC series, The Nancy Wilson Show. They have a daughter, Rachel Ann Weiss, born 1988. By the mid-1960s, Wilson had become one of the label's best-selling artists, second only to the Beatles. Turner married New York real-estate mogul Jay Weiss in 1984. She scored her first big hit in 1962 with Cannonball Adderley and "Save Your Love For Me.".

Turner remained a film star up to the early 90's, but has since rarely appeared in major productions. At Capitol, Wilson' s first recording was "Like In Love". Turner had the last laugh as she became a movie star a few years later in Body Heat, which many consider one of the sexiest films (with Turner giving one of the sexiest performances) in the history of cinema. This lead to the recording contract at Capitol Records. In 1978 Turner was hired as the second Nola Turner on NBC daytime soap The Doctors, but was fired the next year because the producers felt she was "not hot enough". While performing in Columbus, Wilson had an opportunity to sit in with Cannonball Adderley, who sensed her potential and helped her to get her a manager, John Levy. She attended Southwest Missouri State University at Springfield for two years, then gained her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from the University of Maryland in 1977. In 1956, she joined Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Band and made her first recording for Dot Records.

When her father died in 1973, the family moved back to Springfield. At age 15, she won a local talent contest, the prize for which was her own television series, "Skyline Melodies," on a local station. While attending high school in London, England, she also took classes at the London Central School of Speech and Drama. Wilson was born in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was a gymnast as a teenager. Nancy Wilson (born February 20, 1937) is an African-American singer whose sixty-plus albums have blended jazz and pop music. She has two brothers and a sister.
