She is the sister of Arrested Development star Jason Bateman. In December 2003 she wrote a letter informing Democrat John Kerry that his pheasant hunting had cost him her vote. She played the role of Mallory Keaton in the television sitcom Family Ties from 1982 to 1989. She is also a lifelong Democrat.
