Juliette Binoche

She is the highest paid film actress in the history of France. Ironically she plays a character named Anya, the name of a Buffy character and wishes that the Elders (a Charmed version of Angel's the The Powers That Be) would make her human (similarly to Buffy's own Anya character). In addition to her numerous motion picture roles, Binoche has starred on Broadway. She has also starred in the popular witch drama, and close counterpart of Buffy: Charmed, as, like her role in Angel, a Seer. In 2000 she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her starring role in the film Chocolat, based on the novel by Joanne Harris. Carpenter posed for the June 2004 issue of Playboy magazine. In 1996 her role as Hana, a Canadian nurse tending to a wounded stranger during WWII, in the blockbuster film The English Patient, brought her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2002 she got married to Damian Hardy and on March 24, 2003 she gave birth to a boy, Donovan Charles Hardy.

Her performance brought much praise and the offer of leading roles including in Three Colors: Blue, part 1 of Krzysztof Kieslowski's highly acclaimed Three Colors trilogy, for which she won the 1993 Cesar Award for best actress. During her career, in addition to winning, she has been nominated five times for the Cesar Award for Best Actress. She has made guest appearances in Baywatch, Miss Match and has had a role in Malibu Shores. She was 24 when she received her first big break with a role in Philip Kaufman's film The Unbearable Lightness of Being. She was discovered by a commercial agent while she was then a waitress, leading to several roles on TV adverts. While trying to build her career over the next five years, she worked as a clerk at a Paris department store and earned extra cash as a painter's model. Carpenter was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. At age 18 she was given a bit part in the small independent film Liberty Belle. She is best known for playing the character Cordelia Chase in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel.
