Howard Rollins

Howard Ellsworth Rollins Jr. (October 17, 1950 - December 8, 1996) was an African American actor. He is best remembered for his role of Virgil Tibbs on the In the Heat of the Night television series.

Rollins died in 1996 after complications from lymphoma. He had been diagnosed with the condition approximately six weeks earlier.

Howard Ellsworth Rollins Jr. (October 17, 1950 - December 8, 1996) was an African American actor. Born in Mound, Minnesota and educated at then-Moorhead State University he worked as a model for print and television advertising before landing the role of Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
