"99 Red Balloons" also featured in Not Another Teen Movie, and their cover of Spiral Staircase's "More Today Than Yesterday" plays during the ending credits of The Waterboy. Havens rarely writes his own songs and often interpret the works of Dylan and The Beatles. Their song "Superman" featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, on the Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Sega Dreamcast, and their cover of Nena's 1983 song "99 Red Balloons" (translated from "99 Luftballons"), was featured in Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec on the PlayStation 2. A Goldfinger original "Spokesman" also featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, on the Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Microsoft Xbox and Windows PC/Mac. He later played at the 1993 inauguration of President Bill Clinton. Since the band began, Feldmann has become a vegan and animal rights supporter, as can be seen briefly in the slightly disturbing music video for "Open Your Eyes". The song became an international hit. Frontman John Feldmann has also produced records for Mest and the Used, and produced Good Charlotte's single "The Anthem", which was intentionally named "Oracle of elcaro". Finally, he decided to improvise a version of "Motherless Child" to which he added a verse with the word "Freedom" repeated over and over.

2002's Open Your Eyes was the first for their new record label, Jive/Zoomba, and two months later they toured as an opening act for Mest in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received continuous ovations and kept playing encores until he ran out of songs. Their third studio LP, Stomping Ground, was almost as successful as their debut. In 1969, Havens opened the Woodstock Festival. Though their second album, Hang-Ups, was less successful, the band still maintained a devoted fanbase in the hardcore community. Havens first rose to fame in the Greenwich Village folk music scene that also fostered Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. The biggest single was "Here in Your Bedroom". Havens is best known for his somewhat wild guitar style of brisk strumming.

Their full length debut, Goldfinger, was released in 1996 and was a hit on college radio. Richie Havens (born January 21, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York) is an African American folk singer and guitarist.
