Golden Earring


Golden Earring is a Dutch Rock/Pop Group. They had chart success with the songs "Eight Miles High" in 1969, "Radar Love" in 1973, and again with "Twilight Zone" in 1982. The band was founded in 1961 in The Hague. Members of Golden Earring are Barry Hay (vocals, guitar, flute and saxophone), George Kooymans (vocals and guitar), Rinus Gerritsen (bass and keyboard) and Cesar Zuiderwijk (drums).

Timbre was re-released in 2001 on her own label. They had chart success with the songs "Eight Miles High" in 1969, "Radar Love" in 1973, and again with "Twilight Zone" in 1982. She finally won out with the help of a loosely-knit group of Internet-based fans.


Golden Earring is a Dutch Rock/Pop Group. She wanted to use a banjo in the song "Lose Your Way", but her company wanted her to use a more mainstream instrument, such as a guitar. 2004 Naked III (unplugged). Sophie had an extended conflict with her record company before her third album, Timbre, was released. 2003 Millbrook U.S.A.. Music and riffs by Hawkins are included throughout the film. 2000 Last Blast of the Century (live). It follows her during one of her tours and captures her struggle to deal with a past trouble with her family, including her mother and brother.

1999 Paradise in Distress. A 1998 documentary by Gigi Gaston called The Cream Will Rise is based on Hawkin's life. 1997 Naked II (unplugged). Her influences include jazz, rock, and African music. 1995 Love Sweat (covers). Many of Hawkin's songs are openly about sex, such as "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" and "I Need Nothing Else"; on Timbre, songs such as "32 Lines" and "Your Tongue Like the Sun in My Mouth" began to deal explicitly with her bisexuality. 1994 Face It (partially unplugged). It also contained a Top 10 hit, the song As I Lay Me Down.

1992 The Naked Truth (unplugged). Whaler, her second album, was released in 1994. 1991 Bloody Buccaneers. The single Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles' chart in the USA. 1989 Keeper of the Flame. It achieved both critical acclaim and worldwide commercial success. 1986 The Hole. Her debut album, Tongues and Tails, was released in 1992.

1984 Something Heavy Going Down (live). Hawkins began performing professionally as a percussionist with Bryan Ferry in the early 1980s. 1984 N.E.W.S..
