Other "straight" roles were in Police Academy, Police Academy 3: Back in Training, Bad Blood (in which she was billed as Ruth Raymond) and Next Year in Jerusalem. She had a recurring role in the HBO series Six Feet Under as Celeste, a spoiled pop star for whom Keith serves as a bodyguard. She also appeared in the low-budget horror film I Spit on Your Corpse!, for which she also served as costume designer. Since Buffy she has returned to film, with the recent Eurotrip, co-starring Scott Mechlowicz and Travis Wester and directed by Jeff Schaffer. Her first film was Teachers and Cream in 1970, but she became well-known with her starring role in The Devil in Miss Jones in 1973. She remained in the role until the show's cancellation in 2003. When her friend, pornographic actor Harry Reems, introduced her to a porn film director, Gerard Damianco, May moved into pornography. In Summer 2000 Trachtenberg took up the role of Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

She began her career in "legitimate" film, as a chorus girl in Guys and Dolls. In 2000 she made Snow Day. Born Dorothy May, she suffered from polio as a child, but recovered well enough to become a dancer. She returned to film in 1999 for Inspector Gadget and Can't Be Heaven. It was on All My Children that Trachtenberg first worked with future Buffy co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar. During the same period she played the second Lily Montgomery in All My Children. She played Nona Mecklenberg in The Adventures of Pete & Pete from 1994 until 1996. Her first credited role came in 1993.

She went on to feature in over 100 more commercials. Born in New York City, she had her first television appearance in 1988 in a commercial for Wisk Detergent. Michelle Christine Trachtenberg (born October 11, 1985 in New York, United States) is an American television and movie actress best known for her role as Dawn Summers in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
